For the souls bitten by wanderlust, who hop across different places, to swathe their senses in the umpteen mesmeric milieus of the planet, will definitely vouch for the agonizing long halts at the airports. This transitory period between those gorgeous sites only serves to heighten the anxiety of how to spend (read – kill) those long drawn hours. But fret not, for we bring to you, a neat list of things that one can do to dodge the never-ending hours at the airport.
1. Read a book

If you’re an ardent book lover and haven’t had the time to read your single favorite, then grab it along your sojourn. Books make for a beautiful companion on any journey and especially if you are traveling on your own. So find a comfy spot and curl up with your gripping novel while sipping some delicious beverage on the side.
2. Indulge yourself

If flying gives you jitters or you feel weary from the previous flight, then pamper yourself at the day spas. Catch a tingling foot massage or relax your spine with a smooth back massage. Look pretty and prim before your next flight and get a manicure or a pedicure or beat the stress with a good head massage. Indulge yourself and get rejuvenated, but only enough so as to not miss your flight.
3. Nap away

Snazzy international airports and even a few domestic ones usually come with Airport sleeping pods. If you don’t have a transit visa to step out of the airport or you’re just plain tired from all the travel, then book a place in one of these smart pods and let it become your second home. Lull away to sleep and unwind from exhaustion or just choose to freshen up. Be sure to set your alarm and check-out on time to board your next flight.
4. Exercise

If you feel all your pores becoming clogged or the need to stretch your muscles, then there is nothing better than hitting the gym. Many airports are home to fitness centers and entry can be gained through a day pass. Some gyms are also open 24 hours that allow you the convenience to exercise at your own will. If you do not have your workout gear, then you could just take a brisk walk around the arena. We suggest it is best to avoid running if you don’t wish to get frisked by security!
5. Scrummy meals

If you absolutely hate the in-flight food or your hostess got baffled and served you a non-vegetarian dish instead of the regular Hindu meal on your last flight, then it is best to tuck away at some hearty meal at the airport. The airports, nowadays feature some great restaurants that serve some appetizing food. Either sample regional delicacies and succulent barbecues or stick to your regular MacDonald burger. But ensure to stuff yourself up lest the sight of the flight food makes you woozy in mid air!
6. Lounge away

For most will agree, that credit cards come with a lot of perks these days. Their sole intent is to please the customers and well most of them offer the facility to relax in the in-built lounge. By paying a minimal fee, loungers can enjoy the comfort of comfy seats, read the newspaper at leisure or simply dig away at the delicious food buffet. Some high-end lounge also features movies, shower and some amazing draught beer. Keep track of your flight status on the big screen and exit accordingly.
7. Zone up

Any airport, be it domestic or an international one is a wifi zone. With free wifi connectivity, one can surf the net without any hassle. Whether its checking social media or reading things online, wifi makes for a great way to kill time. It is also now darn simple to answer work related emails while you’re on the go. Also, if you don’t have a calling card or an international sim, the wifi enabled what’s app call, and video chat feature enables you to easily stay connected with loved ones.
8. Duty-free shopping
Shop till you drop is an exceptional reality at an airport’s duty-free shops. It is easy to find out the specialty of the place and then indulge in some shopping. Duty-free shops do offer good deals, and of course, you are sure to get great discounts on liquor and chocolates. Scurrying around for a divine fragrance or for some international brand of makeup is also a good option.
So be sure to add these interesting to-do activities to your list, the next time you’re stuck at the airport during a long halt.
